This topic aims to advance the state of the art in trustworthy AI for autonomous decision-making in industrial manufacturing environments. Proposals should address human-AI collaboration frameworks, explainability of AI-driven decisions on the factory floor, and real-time adaptation to changing production conditions. Research should cover at least two of the following areas: (a) self-optimising production lines using reinforcement learning, (b) digital twin integration for predictive quality assurance, (c) multi-agent coordination in flexible manufacturing cells, (d) safety-critical AI certification pathways for industrial robotics. Proposals are expected to deliver validated demonstrators in at least two industrial sectors (e.g. automotive, aerospace, electronics) and contribute to European standardisation efforts in industrial AI.
